Photograph Martin Refuge and stay at the
historic H. Yturria Ranch.
For the first time ever, the ranch will open to guests of Martin
Refuge, by appointment only March 15 thru May 15, 2009.
Located ten miles north of La Joya, Texas and a mere five miles from
the gate of Martin Refuge’s “Javelina” property, the H. Yturria Ranch
will take your trip to new heights. Wake to the sounds and smells of
remote South Texas in the comfort of your private two-bedroom, one-bath
house! Early coffee and breakfast to suit your group will be provided in
the central dining/lounging headquarters building. Then off to
photograph at Martin Refuge.
Return mid-day to the ranch. Charge your batteries and play with
photos in the spacious headquarters, or simply relax in your own
quarters. Lunch with the group and enjoy coffee on the wrap-around
porch, from where you might see wild turkey, quail, deer or other
wildlife visiting the pond in the center of camp.
In the afternoon your guide will take you back to the “Javelina” for
more photography, then return to the ranch for dinner and camaraderie
around the fire-pit.
Facilities: Two air-conditioned ranch houses – each with 2 bedrooms,
1 bath, living/kitchen area with table and refrigerator. Large
headquarters has fireplace, lounge areas, full kitchen and lots of
outlets. Cell phone coverage but no Internet.
GROUP SIZE 4-8 (more with special arrangements)
$280 per person per day includes guided wildlife photography at
Martin Refuge’s “Javelina” property, and lodging and meals at the H.
Yturria Ranch.
